 About

A  national China Law Network (CLN) has been launched under the auspices of the ARC Asia-Pacific Futures Research Network

Jointly initiated by Griffith University and the University of Melbourne, the CLN will promote collaboration, networking, student exchanges and research on Chinese law and justice.  It aims to become a rich resource for Australian scholars, lawyers, officials and the public interested in China.

News and Events

The CSAA 2009 Conference adopts the theme of ‘jiu', and thus takes up the challenge of both celebrating and commemorating the achievements and hardships of the past century 1909-2009 in the Chinese-speaking world. We encourage papers and panels that develop this theme by revisiting old paradigms in the spirit of new research ideas, and by bringing historical perspective to the issues of the present day.

The Centre for Asian and Pacific Law at the University of Sydney, in conjunction with the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology Sydney, and the China Law Society’s National Association of Legal Writing Studies are holding a 1-day seminar in Shanghai on Monday 14 September 2009.

The aim is to look at issues in legal writing, especially judgment writing, from a comparative law point of view. The seminar is a “study day” for Australian delegates with lawyers, academics and judges from China and France, under the aegis of the Fondation pour le droit continental, a body set up by the French Government to research continental law reform issues. French speakers include Justice Gras, the president of the Administrative Decisions Tribunal in Paris.
